August 7, 20223 yr You can always snow, but I think all of these all time examples show without a 50/50 regardless of what the models shows you #'s wise- it will not verify unless it's really there.

For me personally, my all time favorite storm to track. 8 days out and the models locked on. Mid-range it drifted south as always just like '96 did. Then those crazy NAM runs a few days out when it was showing 2-3' widespread. I remember about a day before the storm my friends and family asking me how much I thought we'd get. They were like "Do you think we might get a foot?" And I was like "No no no, you don't understand. A foot is a LOCK. We're getting over 2 feet."
August 7, 20223 yr How about the February 24, 1987 snowstorm which gave Philadelphia 2 feet snow in some parts of SE Pennsylvania over 30 inches. Staten Island had over a foot of snow while where I lived in Queens we got 6 inches.
August 7, 20223 yr February 1983...February 2006 and January 2016 were great storms but it got mild fast and all the snow melted in a week or so...Boxing day 4 was melting fast before reinforcements came...The January 1961 storm was basicily on the ground for over three weeks with 16 consecutive days below freezing and mucho more snowfalls on top...The December 1947 Boxing day 3 storm lasted on the ground until mid February...2010 was similar but not as cold...

These back to back systems is one of my favorite events ever. A few days later we also had light freezing rain that coated the snow with a quarter inch of ice. When I went out for a walk I loved crunching through that icy crust and stepping deep into that snowpack underneath. Btw here's a radar loop I made of December 2000, the beginning of a epic stretch of blockbuster systems (despite the following year being an epic dud):
August 8, 20223 yr Author 12 2000. Forgot about that one. 28 inches in middletown was actually home from school for it. Epic deform. One of the few times models had a big storm one way (Miller A) only for it to lose it and turn it into a Miller B and still produce.
August 8, 20223 yr Really wish I could relive 93-94. It was a great winter, but my father was dying from cancer, so I was obviously not so into things that year. He passed March 31 when I was 15. That one ice storm was epic. A decent amount of storms mixed that year.
