Blast from the past storm thread

Featured Replies

Feb '83 blizzard was incredible.  My HS was in Paramus and recall the snow was delayed a bit and started right when school let out around 1:45.  Went from nothing to heavy snow from the start. Thundersnow several times from 8pm - midnight with high winds.

That absolutely crushed Cape Cod Massachusetts.  Widespread 40" on Cape Cod.

Depends where one lives...

it was more widespread with areas from Sullivan County NY to Long Island getting 2'+ of snow where the past storms we would jackpot and areas upstate would get shafted.

any storm that changed to rain here don't count...storms that ended as ice are fine...

I had about 8" in Brooklyn before that storm changed to rain...a few days later we missed out again as another storm fizzled a bit...

1986-87 and 1987-88 were two almost good winters in NYC...early January 1988 had two 6" storms in a week...The second one was a near miss...86-87 the same but later in January...

That didn't change to rain

I remember going to dinner on Mulberry Street the night before 96.

It was awesome knowing 18 to 24 was on its way.

Same thing for PD2 - was out the day before driving around on the N shore waiting for Craig Allen updates.

March 01 - most hurtful.

Some of us were predicting that before the official forecast said that.

I was too young to be forecasting, but I knew people who were
