LGA had a depth of 24 inches with I think maybe 1 inch depth reported prior to the start of the blizzard. That's a lot of depth.

Now I feel like every system is trying to catch the bands. because it is. we don't get real over running anymore i think for a few reasons 1) it's never really cold before our storms. Upper 20s seems to be as low as we get before these storms start. But it was 6 effing degrees to start this storm. 2) we track mostly Miller B's now or SWFE. While not a true A, more of a C, it originated in the gulf and everything was working for it
August 15, 20223 yr When i started watching the weather nyc had only two storms 20” or more…1888 and 1947…1960-61 had two storms 20” or more in some parts of the city…1996, 2003 2006 , 2010 2016 all had 20” storms… 2021 just missed…
