I'm serious when I say the models have gotten worse these days.

The Euro just flat out sucks now

I can't trust anything outside 3 days.

the resolution is way too high and the models are run too often and too far out

No, I don't chat with him regularly.  I see him in Zoom once or twice a year.

Will never see this again

of course now. one of the most poorly measured storms because for a lot of overnight and then the next morning wrap around people just stopped measuring. unreal how low NYC total were for that  based on the fact at like 11am sunday morning they already had 5 inches.

Looking at my video of 1983 and 1996, I can’t tell which one is bigger…1996 had a longer time to compact…

The current models should have been capped at 7 days.

LGA had a depth of 24 inches with I think maybe 1 inch depth reported prior to the start of the blizzard.

That's a lot of depth.

That's what you get with intense overrunning prior to the main low.

Now I feel like every system is trying to catch the bands.

because it is.  we don't get  real over running anymore i think for a few reasons

1)  it's never really cold before our storms.  Upper 20s seems to be as low as we get before these storms start.  But it was 6 effing degrees to start this storm.

2)  we track mostly Miller B's now or SWFE.  While not a true A, more of a C, it originated in the gulf and everything was working for it

When i started watching the weather nyc had only two storms 20” or more…1888 and 1947…1960-61 had two storms 20” or more in some parts of the city…1996, 2003 2006 , 2010 2016 all had 20” storms… 2021 just missed…
