ALSO, our storms mature VERY late now.  this storm was already cranking with well formed mid levels Sunday morning.  shoving all that moisture up the coast

 

look at 700mb and 850 mb 7AM ON SUNDAY!!!! THERE WAS 30 HOURS OF STORM LEFT!!!

that combined with how early it started and how much precip was on radar made everyone bump quick

 

i was still under a heavy snow warning  in orange county around noon time when upton finally just put everyone under a blizzard warning and said 2 feet come and get it.

Seems that whenever we have a storm now the back edge just races towards us and it is over in 8 to 10 hours. 
 

Once it started snowing in 1996 you knew it was going to be a long time before it ended and that was part of the beauty of the storm.

It snowed over 30 hours at my location with that one. We got every weenie band, blob, snow shower and flurry. That was indeed a beauty.
