Found my boxing day pics.  Man, I took bad pictures.   But can really see the wind element.

Jan 27th 2011 was the deepest snow I ever saw. It was insane

Found 3 pics of that.  I don't know what I was doing back then but my pictures were bad.  My deck from another pic looks to have like 30" on it

That radar is actually misleading because if you look at it you would think that New York City and Queens and Brooklyn still managed to get accumulating snow. Only southern queens in Brooklyn got accumulating snow.

I remember people looking at the radar with precip well north into PA saying "How is that not coming north"?   LOL

Great storm here 16”. The second round of the next storm a few days later was even better.

I had 28-32” of paste after it matching all time depth since the King.

Yeah the radar on the 5th stalled right over you for like 12 hours

@uncle w today, february 2, 1976 49 year ago was the famous one inch blizzard that was truly amazing, i had light rain and 48 degrees at 3 am with very little wind, then at 330 am the wind picked up strong, temps fell 5 degrees in a matter of 15 minutes, by 4 am the rain got heavier and started to mix with sleet and the temp was 35, by 430 am temp was 30 and it all changed to a wind whipped snow, winds howled at 40 mph, by 5 am temps dropped to 20 and by 6 am it was 3 above zero and the snow stopped and the wind continued flash freezes everywhere and everything encased in ice.  during the day of February 2nd temps stayed in the single digits with a wind howling at 40 mph. oh what a day it was.

Anyone remember the flash freeze in March 2005? I think it was March 2005 lol

That was truly a flash freeze, the roads were a sheet of ice

Yep I remember it well. The temperature got near 60 late that morning with rain and by the time we got to 6 o’clock at night temperature was in the low 20s and it was snowing and all the streets were iced over it was taking people 6 to 9 hours to get home depending on where they lived. The national weather service and the sanitation department caught completely off guard. The temperature eventually dropped into the mid teens

I remember driving home from my job and I was going like 5 miles an hour the entire way back because it was so slippery. It didn't help that at that time I used to have a rear wheel drive stick shift car with racing performance tires on haha

Luckily I used to work only like 3  miles away from my house and I could take local quiet roads.

the best flash freeze I ever saw was on Feb 3-4, 1970...Rain during the day changed to freezing rain and then to 3" of powder...it happened over night so if you woke up at 8 and went outside you probably would fall on your back...

On Feb 2nd, 1961, it was -2 degrees with 8-10 inches of snow on the ground...snow was in the forecast, and we got a 17-22" storm gale winds on the 3rd-4th...

Woodhaven Blvd which was right down the block for me was completely snowing ice covered and the traffic was at a standstill. I actually ended up getting over 3 inches of snow from that and the snow was a dry powder.

FEB 2 2015. Heavy snow overnight from Super Bowl Sunday dropped 8 inches of snow where I was living in the Bronx turned to sleet and freezing rain and it froze and the temperature dropped and that snow pack was just solid until Mid March.

Pelham Bay was like a snow magnet. When I was living there I was always getting slammed by snow.

i know we are all concentrated on the storms coming up but this is the anniversary of the blizzard of feb 6-7 1978
