Blast from the past storm thread

Featured Replies

one of the greatest split personality weekends of all time I experienced was April 8th and 9th, 2000.  April 8th temps in the mid to upper 70s sunny and windy.  At night it started to rain, the April 9th blizzard conditions with temps in the mid 20s with wind blown snow 6 inches( anyone that says snow cannot accumulate after a day in the 70s needs to learn about weather better), I am sure @uncle and @Andrew remember that one.

Oh yes I definitely remember that one. 80° the day before and the next morning temperatures were freezing and it was snowing heavily and sticking on the streets and sidewalks. We got a couple of inches from that one but it was just incredible how quickly everything changed. The amazing thing was was that the snow stuck as if it were cold all along

I went from 80 in the afternoon to 30 the next morning with 2" of snow...2000 was a very cool summer...hopefully this year is the same...

Where I used to live in Rego Park Queens we got an inch and a half of snow as the heaviest stuff came in after dark but further east in eastern Queens below northern Boulevard and east out through Nassau County there was heavy snow with some areas getting 6 to 8 inches. I took a drive out to Roosevelt Field and there was heavy snow with lightning. In Suffolk County they got over a foot in some areas The deformation band ran across Long Island into eastern Queens below northern Boulevard and arced down the New Jersey coast where the Golden State Parkway had blinding snow. My friend told me about it when he was driving back from Atlantic City.

Fake totals. Lots of weenie measurements that got into the books that weren't real. You can't measure snow in 60mph winds. The melt ratio was 1.3 inches at about 12 to 1

96 on the other hand was under measured everywhere

If the weenies were around in 96 people would have been reporting 60 inches

I know how much snow I got.  It isn't a fake total.  But I know what your rule is, if you don't get the jackpot, it can't be real.
