December 1960... January 1961... January 1964... February 1967... I can't think of any more storms that were very windy, very cold and a foot or more of snow with huge drifts... bliz of 96 started very cold but no major cold after the storm... same goes for PD1 and 2...

I thought that that storm was going to be an even bigger bust than February 1989 because we had 18 to 24 inches forecast or something like that and we got a band of moderate snow for about 20 minutes after 1 PM and then the dewpoint started dropping and I thought the snow was going to miss us to the south but luckily it came in later on toward the very late afternoon and I ended up with 14 inches. But it was so close to being Nothing I am still shocked that we got the snow we did.
August 7, 20223 yr Februart 1958 was the first big storm I can remember from start to finish...it was a very cold storm but only 8-10 inches in the city...
August 7, 20223 yr Some snowstorm between 87 and 89 I remember dropping 12" where I was in cnj. I was around 10 at the time. That's the first big snowstorm that I remember. But, I'm terrible with dates and years of storms. You guys here have great memories for these things.

The 80s were mediocre years in NYC but not because it was warm. It was because tons of great storms were suppressed.
August 7, 20223 yr The 1/25/00 storm sticks in my mind because i remember watching TWC before bed and seeing we were in the 1-3” shade and i actually prayed before i went to bed that we would get more 😂 I woke up the next morning and was absolutely floored at what was going on outside. I was only 9 so I didn’t know anything about models yet but that was another moment that really got me into the weather.

August 7, 20223 yr February 1983 is so underrated in Brooklyn. The snow came in like a wall around 1pm and I remember Craig Allen still calling for 4 to 8 around 3pm We ended up with 22.

The boxing day will always be the benchmark for me. 68 mph winds with snow rates of 3 in./h made it So tough to walk and I've never experienced blizzard conditions like that in my life it was like a long lasting derecho with heavy snow.

When I was in my schoolyard for lunch at 12:30 PM when I first went out it was dim some light and it was fairly bright I don't believe the storm is going to hit us but then suddenly at 12:45 a wall of dark clouds approach from the south much like a thunderstorm and shortly after 1 PM the snow came in heavy right away there was no few flurries a light snow it just came in like a snow squall and it stayed heavy with varying intensity but always heavy until 7 o'clock the next morning I ended up with 24 inches.

I got very bright lightning and one of the loudest thunder claps I've ever heard in a snowstorm. I was only supposed to get 2 to 4 inches I ended up with almost a foot.
