ski trip is cancelled. Even Stowe says big rains and storms coming

Our targeted opening day for the 2025-2026 winter season is Saturday, November 22 (weather permitting).

Wow, what a November storm that was!  Another 7” was observed accumulating over the past 24 hours, bringing our 48-hour storm total to 16” since Wednesday morning.  The Mansfield summit stake is showing just shy of two feet of settled depth on the ground, which is the 3rd highest snow depth for this date since records started in 1954.

Our snowmaking team continues to supplement Mother Nature’s efforts, though the higher humidity and marginal temperatures during this latest snow cycle have kept them on the upper half of the mountain.  This morning, they are currently making snow on Upper Lord, Ridgeview, and Lord down to the top terminal of the Sunrise Six where wet-bulb temperatures are hovering around 26 degrees. There are also guns running on upper Main Street.

The forecast calls for temperatures to largely hold where they are throughout the day before cooling off nicely tonight.  It looks like we will get a chance for some more snowmaking runtime in the base area after midnight tonight and into midday tomorrow before readings start to rise again.  A messy system will approach the area tomorrow night into Sunday, with a wintry mix changing to rain showers.  That will likely cause a pause in snowmaking that should be relatively short-lived.  Cold air returns with more upslope snow showers developing on Sunday afternoon.

The good news is Sunday night into Tuesday looks nice and cold, with continued snow showers.  That period should give us additional snowmaking chances in the base area, with constant runtime expected throughout on the upper mountain.  The primary objective continues building depth top-to-bottom on the 2,100 vertical foot Lord to North Slope route off the FourRunner Quad, as well as beginner/learning terrain at Spruce Peak when those temperatures allow.

We will continue to update the snow report as weather and operations warrant going forward.
