Often times still in this day and age stuff just pops up on the models. Take Jan 21st 2014 for instance. There was a mini lull that amazing winter between the 3rd and 21st but no models saw the big storm coming until just 72 hrs out. That one was 10” - 15” area wide.

I think the ai he posted was the euro one. But yeah, i thought i saw the gfs ai was going operational soon. I think it did well with the last storm, way better than thr regular gfs

12/17 the ai gfs goes operational. It’s not going to replace the op gfs.

It really won't make much of a difference, since we already have the AI GFS.

I swear they did that just to keep the weenies happy. And you can't even say it's to pick up on trends, because the short term models run more frequently anyway.

The Euro AI was consistently on the wetter side with the storm as well.
