You really think all these weeks of cold and we will have nothing to show for it? At some point something has to pop. Cold is an important ingredient.

A Clipper or 2, sure.

But without blocking in a fast flow environment how ?

What kind of blocking? We have a Greenland block.

You never know, the weather sometimes does surprises, besides December snow is bonus snow. Most of us get our significant snows in January and feb

Kind of gone by the 14th and you have a - PNA so the flow in the long wave length regime cant buckle.

I think a Clipper or 2 could snow but you have zero STJ cutting under

So that block and - PNA out of the N branch cut because the + EPO only allows the boundary to only go so far

You can get these in a fast flow pattern

But I said I have punted all big storms in December

I remember people punting December 2010. It only takes 1 storm.

Patience

Coating of snow here overnight

It won't be like 2010. That blocking pattern isn't there. December 2000 for sure is more like it. Even that had a great snow event.

Several clippers can add up and are welcomed with this cold regime.

We have a negative nao. And who is to say a more stout block doesn’t show up later this month. It’s December 6.

I was specifically talking about a big system

N branch features yeh.

The fast flow pattern is repeating

So maybe we get a 1-3 inch clipper. Etc

Overrunning events are possible but they usually happen deeper into winter.

And another one right behind it.

If you can get the right track, it can be very wintry with a few advisory level events. The track is obviously key though.

Yeah I rained below freezing as well. Lol

Can’t make it up.

Question?..is phase 8 of the MJO -PNA and +EPO?..or that's just part of the equation?

They just treated the road.

Absolutely and with just enough blocking when it shows these can become a bit moderate like a 3-5" event. Keep the train of clippers coming and Ill take it. Hey 1983 had this leading up to a tremendously cold Xmas..

Who knew we'd get an accumulation overnight just 2 days ago? Surprises may abound this winter.
