Still likes to lift heights ahead of it despite heading due east, really frustrating

It's also yet another low by W VA/PA.

I'd take it of course, I'm not crazy

it's too bad-this is reminding me of Dec 1989-great cold but just nothing wants to work out snow wise.

Yeah, biggest difference in that composite is the strength of the -NAO in 2010 vs what we've seen so far MTD.

I think it's more comparable to December 2000 than 2010.

It's more like December 2000.

December 2000 had a +WPO/+PNA - so much different across the Pacific than this December so far.

This plot is not dissimilar to the PNA

The GEFS extended takes the NAO / AO negative between Christmas and New Years.

Would be some nice "mood" snow. Still have a solid 1" on parts of my yard and most non-South facing roofs here.

GFS gets another coating or so too. At least we are getting a little bit here and there...

temps have been dropping all morning, started with 27.8 at 6 am, now at 11 am it is 21.7 with a stiff breeze

I was mostly talking about the cold temperatures but it's a different pattern as we know. But the cold is similar.

So the AI models had this first and we are starting to see it translate onto the ops models now.
