The models really appear to be coming into strong agreement on a strong se ridge and moderation in temps by the 4th week of December.

Such a different world once you get above 1k feet

Saw some TV people, including, shockingly, Nick Gregory reporting the radar showing downpours over central NJ, which was in reality the radar beam hitting the melting layer. All METAR reports indicated light rain when those 'yellow' echoes were over the same area.

We were due a thaw after such cold temps so early. I just hope we don’t torch.

I had to take my dogs out at 5 under the yellow echoes and it was raining pretty hard.

No one is claiming a torch. Will there be a torch in the south central United States? Absolutely.

Trenton did briefly observe moderate rain twenty minutes ago. But the 'enhanced' echoes would imply heavy rains as they were near the 'red' echoes. Most times you are near the 'rain/snow' line you will see the 'enhanced' echoes due to the radar beam hitting the melting layer.

Hopefully this stays but the day it happens would probably change if it were to happen

Yeah, witnessed it many times over the years. I think it was that but it was raining pretty hard too.

Relaxation of the cold is good warmer weather for a while is not bad you have that all the time you don’t go steadily cold all winter unless it’s the winter of 1976-77.

If we can get some snow this Sunday I will be thrilled. 2 inches would be like 20 inches in this regime.

And 1976-77 was not really particularly snowy.

Can you isolate that to the 24 hour period so that I can see how far north the system gets without today contaminating it?

I like this
