The All-New Winter Banter Thread

6 years ago this week began the dystopian COVID lockdowns where the govt straight up lied to our faces. So glad I never bought into the hype and BS fear mongering. My state hardly locked down beyond the first 3 months, my state didnt permanently damage children by keeping them glued to a laptop to "learn" and most importantly i never got the COVID clot shot.

COVID is why ill never believe a fucken word of what the government says, no matter who is in charge.

On Sunday, the high in Freeport, Bahamas, reached only 51 degrees, the coldest high temperature on record anywhere in the Bahamas, according to Herrera. That's more typical of early February in Nashvi

One of the reasons I left nj. Next time we get a pandemic, I do not want to be in that shithole

This is entirely AI generated. I can't tell if this is cool or if we're cooked and I'm probably getting scammed when I'm 75

I'll never understand why it went on so long-we were never defeating the virus (it will burn its way through the population regardless) and it was obvious fairly early on that if you were young and healthy it was not going to be anything worse than the flu. Yet places were closed for 18 months and the silly mask mandates went on for close to 2 years. Just insane.

And some of the rules were just plain stupid. They closed the parks, which forced people to walk through more crowded city streets.
When restaurants reopened, you had to wear a mask to enter and if you got up to use the bathroom.

But if you were seated at a table, you did not have to wear a mask. The whole situation was ridiculous.

Also, stores opened later and closed earlier, which was a great idea to make the store more crowded!

It was all scare tactics from politicians so they can get control over the dumber portions of the population. I hardly wore a mask during the COVID psyop heck I remember going to strip clubs and getting lap dances during the summer in 2020.

I really have no idea how bad it got in the I95 area because I last visited the area in December 2019 and didn't visit again until summer 2022

Yea we didnt have any of that shit out here. Lincoln had a mask mandate but no one gave a shit. Bars were still open everything was open past like May 2020. I heard the northeast was locked down for almost 2 years.

And whenever im in the northeast now everyone just seems way more shut in that normal. Its like all people do is sit around at home smoking weed and ordering doordash. Its like an 18 month lockdown wasn't beneficial for anyone

Were they actually keeping track of people with the vax in places like NY? I remember hearing that they kept track of who went to restaurants and other shit like some dystopian police state

Not really. They said they would, but they didnt.

None of it prevented anything. It was just to be like "hey we're trying to protect you" Virus was going to have its way in the end....and eventually everyone realized that...but it took 1-2 yrs which was crazy. Let people determine what level of risk they are comfortable with.

My favorite were people who masked up driving alone and people who wore masks outdoors when nobody was around.

Some were absolutely petrified. I had a friend who literally did not leave his house for 6 months. Was convinced if he got it he was done for. Took a long time for people like that to go back to living.

It was crazy. I kept thinking WTF are these people so scared of?

But a lot of that was the media's fault.

Like snow events around here which are hyped to the point of supermarkets being stripped clean (for run of the mill events too) the hype machine was beyond crazy-not to mention misinformation on the internet stoking fear.

To be fair, the entire population of Florida passes through the subway system in three days back in 2019. Now it's more like 4.5 days because the numbers never recovered.

I haven't been on the subway since 2018 because I refuse to ride with psychos.
