The All-New Winter Banter Thread

Featured Replies

Pretty good odds we stay below 10" for the winter here. Currently sitting at 4.3" for the season. If we stay below 15" my 5 year average goes down to 10.3"

Absolutely pathetic. My average is 25-30"

On Sunday, the high in Freeport, Bahamas, reached only 51 degrees, the coldest high temperature on record anywhere in the Bahamas, according to Herrera. That's more typical of early February in Nashvi

68 days till spring. This botched back alley coat hanger abortion of a winter cant be over soon enough.

Going skiing next month and in March is more of a chore at this point than enjoyment. 25% open, thin cover and icy. Only reason im even going is im locked in. Can't go ice fishing because all our lakes are dry.

Nothing to really be positive about right now. It just sucks.

At least this nightmare winter is halfway over.

At least I was blacked out drunk for 2021-22 so I hardly remember that winter. This winter makes me want ti fucken drink. f*** this. 60s and 70s come back next month. f*** all this ******* shit.

This would be so typical with all the promises of Snowmaggedon and what not. Bitter cold and mainly dry for better part of a week plus and when we final get precipitation, we torch in the upper levels and it is primarily sleet at best. Mind boggling.

Personally, I don't understand it and could never live my life like that, but to each his or her own.

Wow. Uh no. I have been on board for this to be a MECSY storm for days. Still am. Just saying it would not surprise me if that happens. We've seen it so many times here. It is surely a reasonable possibility. We live in NJ not the Tug Hill.

Yes, but instead of just being Mr Negative, why don't you analyze those times and compare them with this?
As long as you've been on weather forums, it should be very easy to spot big differences.

Wow guys. Just putting it out there. I am still very positive we have a nice event here but that possibility cannot be ruled out. You lived here so you surely know it all too well.

Yes, possibilites CAN be ruled out. You have to know the synoptics and the physics. That's the same reason I ruled out this going straight out to sea.

I am and that's why I still like this event. The deep cold air will help keep it all frozen but if we don't have all the other necessary pieces working in our favor it will not be as much snow. Quite simple really.

You live in Cliffside Park. You have about as much chance of sleet as I have of becoming a grandmother this year.

I am hopeful you are correct. The primary driving that north and east as the GDPS depicted there seems synoptically possible in this setup but perhaps it is just overdone a bit too much considering a lot of the other guidance isn't yet doing that. I imagine the confluence is not robust enough in that depiction as in others due to any number of things like not a good enough block (departing High pressure in Canada) or a breaking down west coast ridge, etc.

It's an awesome area - I took the back roads last weekend from Belleayre over Slide Mountain, dumped me out near Monticello. Claryville/Frost Valley area are particularly spectacular.

The ski resorts themselves are going to get 24+

Sick winter for them

Im sure a few will say they got 30 but ive never seen a ski resort that doesn't lie with snow totals.
