appreciable should be 2-3" or more...since 1960 NYC had eight storms 2.7" or greater three times...1993-94...1995-96 and 2013-14...

Yeah I was thinking like 1-2 or more, something that at least causes minor impact.

2" is generally considered plowable and getting into advisory criteria.

A dusting certainly wouldn't fit that criteria, unless it was mostly freezing rain.

  • Yes. I'm back. The last 90 plus days were very difficult. Between my father and own health issues I needed a long break and medicine to help me get back on track. I'm here as long as I feel good.

  • It would be great if we could keep everything here. Threads are much easier to follow, and the continuity really matters. This has become the best weather forum on the internet—hands down—and I’d hate

Lol Brian over on American posting that January will be warmer then normal

Good lord.

Never said that. Said that so far it's less snowy and warmer than Dec. Seems more like Nina Climo. Yes later Jan looks cold but 2-3 weeks ago, it looked cold for the present time period which outside of Thursday is average to above average this week

Locally for me:

Dec -5 degrees and 15 inches of snow

Jan so far +2 and 0 snow

You be the judge! Always hopeful for more snow but the northern stream is just too dominant-maybe a couple smaller events

Jan is plus 2 thru 13 days ( thats plus 1 over 30 )

The 15 - 30 is likely to be - 7

We are looking at another BN month

Theres a 10 day period of - 10 possible- the TPV is nosing in.

As far as snow - we probably snow between the 20th - 30th

Its going go down as a very cold 1st 2 months

Like I said, I never said it wasn't going to be a BN month.

Hopefully you're right to bad the 18th didn't work out hopefully, the next system that we track, which I think is the 26th isn't so complicated every time we have a complicated system with all moving pieces. It never works out. It seems like and we wind up getting missed .. just like last year Sadly.. hopefully that's not the case going forward.

Joe Cioffi and Joe Rao on the Joe and Joe Weather podcast have been excellent this winter. They have actually been better than anybody and DT from Wxrisk is a guest now every week and he gives him very good anaylsis. I was actually shocked to learn that he is 65 years old, he looks a lot younger.

Anyway he is looking forward to later on this month and into February.
