ICON is a trash model, always too far north

remember the December storm?

Was hoping we’d drop the mix line south a bit

pretty disappointing icon and rgem runs. But 18z and those 2 models aren’t worth losing sleep over yet

Disregard that freezing rain bullshit and resulting crappier snowmaps for NYC on the ICON.

Just look at soundings and you'll see it's a mid level warm layer like 6000 feet up with everything below 850mb well below freezing.

That's at worst sleet.

Icon isn't worth worrying about. RGEM has a warm bias.

Agree! Have not seen Skew-T sounding graphics posted here in quite some time. We need more of those and less of the precipitation type maps with all the hard to decipher color shadings. Canadian is the worst with the colors, insane heavy snow color shading looks nearly identical to the sleet/zr colors

We could go back to the black and white maps!

So recap…. Canadians and the icon are he least snowiest and still got NYC metro 7-10

Lol. True it could always be worse.

If anything, with the cold temps, it will be a 6" glacier instead of a 12" glacier. Then hopefully more to track afterwards.

How were soundings on RGEM seeing a lot of people

On twitter saying soundings don’t support how far north it is (at least that’s the issue south of us) @Sundog
