    my quick math has NYC averaging 23.3 for the last 26 days...any period like that averaging 25.0 or lower will cause the ice we see around the city...

    This was the Hudson River at the Port Imperial Weehawken Ferry in NJ. I snapped the picture last Wednesday night 2/4/26.

    2004 had lots of ice in the water...I was taking the S I ferry back then...a lot of banging went on under the ferry...those boats were pretty solid...
