I hate the brutally cold air. All it does is suppress storms. We got lucky with the 12 inches. We got 5 storms this winter which is more than the past winters.

What brutally cold air- the pattern has changed

That we had last month . I rather deal with the rain snow line then suppression.

IDK living like being in the arctic with frozen bays and snowscapes as far as the eye can see for me is a lot better than waiting for rain to flip over to snow.

We’ll be lucky to get an inch. This is just not our year for snow yet again. And don’t give me shit “oh we got a foot in January”…yeah one big event. 20 years ago that was an every 3-4 week occurrence. After the first event of the year if it’s less than 12” I could care less. Yup I’m spoiled

Got news for you, 3 to 4 weeks pretty much separated each and every measurable snowfall most of us on this board had thus far this winter.

C+ I grade winter by snowfall, not cold air. If I get to average it’s a B or B+

I had two snowstorms over 6 inches in December, which I have never experienced before. To get pictures of the snow with the Christmas decorations was really really special because that is so damn rare here. In the January storm was historical and the fact that we had had such a long snow cover with very little additional snow and just the steady cold. It finally looked and felt like deep winter, and I’m still loving it.

BTW

So true. Deep winter is so hard to come by this decade and to have it for such an extended time areawide is rare any winter.

A voice of reason. Some people like to kvetch.

image.jpegLook at this picture. I took this on the evening of December 14 after the first snowfall.

image.jpegI took this on Friday, February 13. The snow’s been there for nearly 3 weeks and yet if I told you, it just fell the day before you would believe it.

I will be honest with you all. If I had to pick a choice, I would rather have extended snow cover than to have a 30 inch storm that melts in a few days. There’s something about snow cover that really makes a difference and the longer you have it the more of a true winter it really is.
