Balance of January and all of February with a Hint of March Storm Tracking Thread

Featured Replies

1.46" of much needed rain here, barely put a dent in the snowpiles though. Grass though is now about 80-90% exposed.

And your friend P. B. called Jan 15 - Feb 15 from early January. Not too shabby. Next period Feb 20 - March 10. Going to run this winter BN wire to wire November - March. Just crazy

Not necessarily. A modoki strong Nino is more like 1957-58 or 2009-10.

  1. 43" of much needed wetness here

Just 10% coverage now. Good to see it go it was getting nasty.

2.04 here. Much-needed rain, cleaned everything off.

that chart has members approaching +3 and still rising...the lower end members are +1.5 and rising...the oni numbers were adjusted somehow...

Climate Prediction Center - Relative Oceanic Niño Index (RONI)

1982-83 looks the strongest...1957-58 adjusted up to +2.0...1974-75 is no longer a la nina...

Well anybody who predicts anything around a 3 this far out should have their head examined.

That would be like me forecasting 88 degrees 12 days from now because one GFS run showed it.

down to mostly piles of snow here-some scattered coverage but the next 4-5 days will see all but the largest piles go...

I heard some of the lakes on the island had 10-12” of ice

Today could turn out more interesting than was forecast.

It's 34 degrees and falling and now starting to rain...

Whatever lake is by Boonton NJ that you can see from 287 has been iced over for months. I wonder how thick it was if anyone here lives near there.

Islip had 19 consecutive mornings under 20 degrees which is an all-time record stretch for that.

With the warmer temperatures by this weekend, they melt things should be more rapid by next week at this time all of the snow should be gone if not sooner except for the big piles.

Euro AI has some snow. Euro has a big cold front. Stormy but we need the NAO to squash these.
