Balance of January and all of February with a Hint of March Storm Tracking Thread

My power goes out fairly often here on windy days even with underground utilities. We got a generac a couple years ago and has come in handy a few times. 2x before that the basement flooded when we lost power.

Have you every considered getting a whole-home battery backup for your solar system?

And your friend P. B. called Jan 15 - Feb 15 from early January. Not too shabby. Next period Feb 20 - March 10. Going to run this winter BN wire to wire November - March. Just crazy

The main sign that winter is ending is that we start seeing the climate change posts.

I looked into that before I got the generac. At the time I having major issues with my system so didn't get it. I think tesla has a power wall or something like that.

Watching for a wave along the front, similar to what the rest of the board got last week. Would be a light event before any kind of lake effect, but we may have moderate snow for a few hours near rush hour tomorrow evening.

The storms won't reach here until later in the day tomorrow right? I have a flight leaving Newark at 8am

The main line won't get there by tomorrow morning, but there could still be some instability showers/thunderstorms out ahead of the line that help mix down strong low level wind at times.

My neighbors installed one about 2 years ago. Curious to see how long that lasts in an extended outage after a storm compared to my Kohler WHG. So far we haven’t had an extended outage to find out.

I have one of those deck umbrellas and tables. Last wind event, it came really close to getting blown right off the deck, so this time I lied it down first.

Relatively boring weather, unless you live near the Delmarva, the South, or most of the Midwest.

It is 4 degrees here, but that is nowhere near the record. Will be in the 80s Friday.

I think its over for us in the east for any wintry weather ( Boston to DC )

So why didn't you say the same to Jivesnow? He's using the same records I am for him to tell us about the longest below freezing streaks.

"Yawn! Climate change is cyclical! I'm not impressed with the below freezing streak! Yawn!"

Of course true for both cold and warm weather events....weather is not climate!

We have picked up 0.43" of rain so far here in East Nantmeal since midnight. We could see upwards of another inch of rain by late tonight. Today will be unseasonably warm followed by unseasonably cold tomorrow through Thursday. A wind advisory is in effect for wind gusts as high as 40 mph through tonight. A strong cold front will cross the area from west to east around the 9pm tonight. Temperatures will drop close to 20 degrees over an hour or so. Rain could briefly turn to sleet and then snow before ending. Temperatures return to near normal by next weekend.
