Today back in 1958 the area was in the middle of the 2nd greatest snowstorm in Pennsylvania history. Below are the all-time 3 day snowstorms across our state. The top 2 storms both were in our local area with the Blizzard of February 1899 at Coatesville with 52.4" and the 50.0" just off the PA Turnpike at Morgantown leading the way. Of note that same storm in 1958 also featured the 49" that was recorded just off the PA Turnpike at Devault. I have also included the hand written NWS COOP March 1958 observations for both Morgantown and Devault.

My grandmother on my mother side was in Pennsylvania and where she was had nearly 4 feet of snow. Perhaps it was one of those towns, but I forgot the name of it. She said that was by far the worst snowstorm she ever saw and when we had the blizzard of February 1978 and I was impressed with it my Nana said it was like flurries compared to March 1958.

That was just an incredible storm

Puking snow.

Impressive WWB event ongoing right now near the dateline, & forecast to continue for the foreseeable future. Heavily tilts the odds in favor of a high end El Nino event at peak later this fall into early next winter.

Geez. Urban island effect?

I'm sure that's part of it.

But this guy's suburban neighborhood is apparently the slowest warming neighborhood on Earth.

See how much a place like Lake Placid has warmed, located in the middle of nowhere inside 6 million acres of wilderness, the largest windlerness in the USA.

For example the lakes up there are down between three and four weeks of frozen lake time compared to the 1940s.

Or Lake Champlain, that used to freeze over regularly but now it's down to an average of every 4 or 5 years.
