It's literallly 36-48 hours earlier on the GFS. I think it's a completely different wave.

Yep that's the second wave, told you they are different waves. And if you look back over ND, there's another wave coming down.

Every one of these refreshes the snow pack and brings down fresh cold air from the Canadian prairies.

The third wave peters out on the GFS but does still bring in more cold air.
