If FDR hadn't taken almost 3 years to get involved in the war, there would probably be no NATO and Pearl Harbor probably would have never happened.

I don't know about that. But we definitely should not have let most of Europe fall before entering the war.

They still had a massive army. Use them on the front line to push through. Its not like they had anything left at home.

Really a big downside to NATO going away is Europe will remilitarize and that will inevitably lead to a big war again at some point.

A new dynamic will be at play when the US and Iran meet in Islamabad to negotiate a final deal based on Iran's 10-point plan:

Trump's failed war has eliminated the potency of American military threats in US-Iran diplomacy.

The US can still issue threats, but everyone will know that they no longer carry much weight.

Essentially, war with Iran was tried and failed.

As a result, negotiations will have to be based on genuine compromises from both sides, rather than coercion from either side.

Iran is done

Iran isn’t done. We’ll be back to bombing them in two weeks. Until whatever regime that’s left agrees to giving up the uranium, I don’t see how this is done. Not to mention control of the straits of Hurmoz. If anything it gives Trump a reset of the 90 day clock under war powers act and basically sidelines Congress should we start bombing them again. That’s my current take.

It's the equivalent of if China started to charge ships that go in and out of the South China Sea. Iran wants 2M for passage. It's an international straight. There shouldn't be a single penny given. Any cave of this would be a major blow.
