Grade 2025/26 winter

Featured Replies

I'd have to give an overall grade of an A+.

46.5" of snow

2 Nesis Snowstorms

A blizzard

26 winter precipitation events starting on Nov 11th.

22 had some accumulations

5 were 4 or more

the coldest 30 day period since the LIA

Lake by my home has been frozen since Dec 13th. Longest stretch in my 30 years living here.

Solid A

4 decent storms here 12/14, 12/26, 1/25 and 2/22 about 50 inches

solid cold, solid snowcover

only small detriment was the month in b/w the last 2 storm and not alot to track in that period.

I've been checking this year's stats to the last 50 years going back to the 1976-77 winter...ave temp...min temp...coldest month/30 days...total days max 32 or lower...biggest snowfall...snowfall in a month/30 days...this year is in the top five...I still need total snowfall...1" snow depth days...max depth and others...all 50 points for the cold stats went to 76-77 for the four criteria's...1995-96 is a lock for 50 points for the most annual snowfall...2010-11 49 points...2022-23 will get one point for having the least...

year.....points...

1993-94...273...could end up first...

2025-26...258...could drop a little...

2003-04...250...will drop a little...

1996-96...249...will rise some...

1977-78...246...could stay in the top five...

1976-77...245...will fall...

2014-15...243...could stay the same...

1978-79...239...will drop some...

2013-14...239...could rise a little...

2002-03...237...could rise a little...

2010-11...234...could rise some...

I'm putting this out now...based on snow and cold together...2025-26 could get a point or two if there is another 32 degree or lower min...some surprises here...11 categories...possible 11-550 points...Ave temp Dec-Feb...coldest temp...coldest month/30 days...days with a max 32 or lower...Days with a min 32 or lower...biggest snowfall...second biggest snowfall...30 day snowfall...total snowfall...1" snow depth days...4" snow depth days...pointe are 1-50...since the 1976-77 winter...some cold winters came ahead of some snowy winters...I had to use Newark Airport for snow depth...Central Park did not report snow depth for ten years in the 1990-2 into the 2000's...2025-26 comes in 5th...could be 4th with an April snowfall and a few more cold mornings...that's seems unlikely so I'll post this now...hopefully no typos or addition mistakes...
