Monday could feature something tough to do around here in June. Breezy (possibly windy), full sun, and below normal temperatures.

  • Last summer, we had a cold front go through here and on a dry west north west wind. The temperature rose into the low 90s after 11 PM. I was out walking the dog when it happened. It was actually in th

Daily climo reports for NYC & EWR were both 90 before 5pm as well. NYC has to get their 90 degree days in before the leaves are out haha.

Still some snow on Greece's mountains. This one is just north of the oracle of Delphi. You can see the orange tint on the snow from the Saharan dust from earlier in the spring when they had strong southerly winds:

I've been there before, this spot is about 7500 feet.

Through May this has been our coldest start to a year since 2015. We should finally see some above normal temperatures starting tomorrow and peaking at around 90 degrees by Saturday. We then see some increasing chances of showers by Saturday night with temperatures cooling back to near normal levels by next Monday.

I remember in July 1979 on the 5th NYC had a max of 69 and min of 53 with sunny skies...this is the only time I saw a July day that didn't get out of the 60's with no cloud cover...it was a sunny breezy day...on June 11th 1972 NYC had a max of 69 and min of 46 with sunny skies and breezy conditions...July 9th 1963 NYC had a min of 54...I remember that morning being a breezy day with leaves blowing in the wind...It was a dry period and many tree leaves were on the ground as if it was the fall...The worst July 4th I lived through was in 1978...it rained all day and the max was 62...low 50's in the Poconos...Aug 14th 1964 had a min of 54 with strong winds...I remember playing stickball and hitting a shot that was my longest hit with the wind...At the time in Yankee Stadium Mickey Mantle hit a high drive to Center that was caught up in that wind and ended up going 502ft...He thought it was a pop up when he left the batter's box...It was so high in the air that the center fielder had time to run to the 461ft sign and with his back to the wall looking up...Mantle joked he was trying to hit it out of the stadium because the wind was blowing so hard...That was Mel Stottelmyre's first start as a Yankee...I think they won 7-4...

when I played ball, I always knew which way the wind was blowing...when I was bike riding around Brooklyn I always wanted the wind at my back when I was on my way home...I used to ride on the bicycle path from 69th ST to Bay parkway...You didn't want the wind in your face rounding that path...
