I agree in principle.

Its not like these are factories that employ hundreds abd create a product. And most of these data centers will be obsolete in like 10 years.

You can't come to an agreement or compromise with people who would relish in the demise of our country. Once upon a time the Democrats were a normal party where we would disagree on small difference

I feel like all NJ towns do this with the tax breaks. I remember my old town of piscataway used to give 5 years. Companies would come and go. I guess though they at least were employing lots of people. A data center would only be a handful

The Reform Party in the UK has been significantly leading in the polls for quite some time, and they won in a landslide in local council seats across the UK the other day, even flipping a reliable core of the liberal Labour base. If it holds, it may be the end of the Labour–Tory uniparty in favor of a right wing nationalist populist party instead. Both parties destroyed the country for decades. It may be too late to save London, but perhaps the rest of the UK can still partially recover. European nationalism is needed because they have leached on to us for too long and need to support themselves militarily.

Wish we could say the same for the U.S..

Restore Britain is the true right wing nationalist party.

A lot of people have the wrong idea and definition of what free speech truly is.

The only way you can fully appreciate free speech is to have somebody talk and you don’t like what they say or you are offended by it or whatever it is that you feel that makes you feel uncomfortable. Free speech is not having someone talking you agreeing with every single damn thing that they say. It’s listening to somebody disagree with them, but feeling blessed the fact that they have a right to say it and you have a right to say stuff that people will disagree with you.

So many people on the left do not want free speech if they disagree with it, but I am also starting to see a lot of people on the right feel the same way and that is really a bad thing.

Look what’s happening in Europe. A lot of people want to bring that crap here and once that happens, we are no longer America if we are stupid enough and cowardly enough to allow that.

Yeah, free speech is the ability to disagree with everyone, including the government.

But there are a few exceptions/restrictions to that rule, and that includes:

-when free speech is potentially harmful, hateful, or can cause fights.

-when free speech is just lies and totally untrue.

-when free speech is threatening and a real threat.

But we should NEVER restrict free speech just for

criticizing the government

or having a different opinion than the majority.

Yes all of these plus “infringement “.

FYI…I always thought that shouting fire in a crowded theatre is unlawful, but technically it isn’t. However I think causing possible injuries could result in getting arrested.

I’ve got to check that out.

It's either illegal or strongly immoral.

Either way, like you said, it could get people hurt and cost the theater a lot of money for no reason.

That's why no freedom is 100%.

Falsely yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater to cause panic is illegal and not protected by the First Amendment. While the phrase stems from a 1919 supreme court case, the legality hinges on creating "clear and present danger" or "imminent lawless action". Such actions can lead to criminal charges like disorderly conduct, inducing panic, or reckless endangerment. [1, 2, 3]

Key Legal and Contextual Details:

  • When It’s Illegal: Falsely shouting "fire" when there is no danger is illegal because it causes panic, which can lead to injuries or death.

  • When It’s Legal: If there is an actual fire, yelling "fire" to warn others is not illegal.

  • The "Fire" Myth: The phrase is often misused. It originated from a 1919 case, Schenck v. United States, which was partially overturned by Brandenburg v. Ohio in 1969. The 1969 ruling established that only speech inciting "imminent lawless action" can be restricted.

  • Criminal Charges: Depending on state laws, you could be charged with inducing panic, false reporting, or creating a disturbance.

  • Civil Liability: If your actions cause a stampede or injuries, you can be sued for damages

I feel the same way about burning the American flag. Technically it should be legal, but the people who inhabit the country should feel such disgust for the act that it would never occur despite it being within their rights.

Adams nailed it when he said the U.S. Constitution was designed solely for a moral and religious people.

Yeah I am disgusted by it, but I also understand why it is legal. If it became illegal, then too many other freedoms of expression could go with it.
