wouldn't it easier if you go to work or school to fit the season without changing the clock?...if we use permanent daylight savings time weather records will be from 1am to 1am all the time...is having one more hour of daylight in the winter worth it?...

It wouldn't technically be one more hour of daylight...

You can't come to an agreement or compromise with people who would relish in the demise of our country. Once upon a time the Democrats were a normal party where we would disagree on small difference

Who cares. They'll have a sunset of 6PM in winter.

Who doesn't want that?

On January 3, the sun would rise at 8:56 AM here. That's a little late, isn't it?

About the same as in Paris.

And they have less overall sunlight since they're farther north than you.

What do they do in Scandinavia? Or Iceland? Or Ireland?

In Iceland the sun comes up around 11:30AM lol stop complaining it could be much worse

in the winter of 73-74 they kept daylight savings time, and parents were complaining their kids were going to school in the dark...

What if we made the school day one hour later? There are already some proposals floating around to do that.

As you know, Americans drive a lot more than Europeans. There have been studies that show a lot more kids would get hit by cars if they're going to school in the dark.

I hate the cars argument. Are kids walking down long forested roads with no reflective clothing on with no street lights with no sidewalk while maniacs are careening down the roads?

I love to see the sun as early as possible all year round.

Little kids don't walk to school by themselves anymore anyway. Maybe in the 70s they did.

Id rather it come up early. My job depends on sunlight and starts at 6am.

You have seen the way people drive in your area. I don't have to explain that. Kids also walk into the streets without a care in the world.

It's not a good combination.

They do here. Not everyone lives in Queens.

I would prefer later if I had to, but I prefer the way it is.

How far are they walking? What age? Is it rural back roads or organized street grid?

Anywhere, generally 1-2 miles, but usually mostly city streets.

I walked half a mile to my school when I was as young as 6 and I didn’t think anything of it, and that was normal. The abduction and murder of that kid in New York City in 1979 changed everything.

Walking 2 miles takes 45 minutes. I don't believe anyone is walking that lol

And on a street grid? How is this dangerous again?

Little Johnny is getting a ride from mom.
