Wow, that’s a great lawn Frank. This has been a very good spring for that. This is some of the best greening I’ve seen in a long time. It’s very thick and it’s not too wet or not too dry.

Daily climo reports for NYC & EWR were both 90 before 5pm as well. NYC has to get their 90 degree days in before the leaves are out haha.

where's the infield?...

Minimum temperatures this morning were 8 to 14 degrees below normal for today’s date. The lowest was our typical cold spot in Warwick Twp with a low of 35.5. With the exception of Sunday, where temperatures will be close to normal with highs in the low 70’s we should see well below normal temperatures continue for at least the next week. Rain chances increase tomorrow morning into the afternoon. We should see a mostly sunny Mom’s Day on Sunday before more rain arrives Sunday night into Monday. Some models are hinting at almost an inch of rain between Saturday and Monday night.

May is great for lawns-no drought, no crabgrass/weeds

Had a period of drizzle for an hour. Of course it happened when I was playing 9 holes with my son. Its now sunny again

Aprils with summer heat and then near record cold around May 19th...

1976 had a heat wave from the 17th-19th...96 on the 18th...this came after a 25 degree morning on the 12th...On May 19th NYC set a benchmark low of 38....2002 had a heat wave on the 16th-18th after a 30 degree morning on the 7th...May 19th had near record cold...record low on the 20th...April 2009 had two 90 degree days on the 26th and 28th after a 34 degree morning on the 13th...May 19th saw a near record low on May 19th...it would have been a record for the 20th...this year we had record heat of 90 degrees on April 15th after a 30 degree morning on the 8th...now all we need is near record cold around May 19th...some models are hinting just that...the three years I mentioned were developing el nino years...the winters that followed were historic for cold or snow...lets hope these coincidents continue into next winter...

Could see flood advisories east of NYC today.

Models don't look that enthused.

Only the 3k NAM has anything significant (and it shifted decently east compared to 6z) so I'm not sure how reliable it is.

Can we get to 70°+ every day already. This weather is annoying. Normal is pretty much 70

The last 20 years weren't enough for you?

NYC average just made it to 70 degrees today, and that's using the warmest climate normals.

It's above average 80% of the time. Please don't complain that it's too cold.

We have some light rain around this morning here in NW Chester County a cool day is on tap with some showers. Highs will struggle to reach the lower 60's. Nice but brief warm up tomorrow for Mom's Day with highs reaching the mid 70's with sunshine. Much cooler again with below normal temperatures all week. We will have additional rain chances both Sunday night and Monday and again Wednesday through Friday.

Or here in the Philly burbs below normal 70% of the time as we can see with May likely to end with below normal temperatures - this will mark 7 of the last 10 months with below average temperatures here in Chester County

Im complaining that spring sucks here. Nothing is nice about temps from late March when we lose hope for snow to early May. I dont give 2 craps if old norms were 65 vs 67. Cant tell the difference, but can tell both suck. These 9 weeks always suck minus a handful of nice days.

Haha.

Let me tell you something you obviously don't know. Your warm records all came when the eastern United States had lost over half of its trees.

Pennsylvania was down to 30% forest coverage in the first few decades of the 20th century.

Now it's up to 60%. Similar story across the east. Farming was abandoned for the Midwest.

And that's why a decent chunk of the eastern United States are warming at the slowest rate compared to other places.

It’s been either too chilly to sit on Captree Pier with without wearing a jacket or it’s got too warm and humid like it did in April for those few days when I had to wear shorts and I was sweating. I just want a few days but I could sit there with short sleeves and just feel comfortable.

you think it’s bad where you are? You should see how it is out here in Suffolk County. This has been a particularly bad spring, similar to spring 2018.
