Summer Thread - Drought, Heat...Tropics?

This was last night at exactly midnight. As the video is ending, you can see the wind begin to pick up. Right after that, we gusted to around 70 MPH. That umbrella almost lifted completely off the ground and it has a concrete base.

That’s pretty impressive and it’s got to be uneasy to see the hell and then to hear the tornado sirens in the distance.

I have never seen a thunderstorm interfere with fireworks on the fourth and it won’t happen this year. I wonder if that’s ever happened though when New York City had a thunderstorm between 830 and 10 PM.

CA and Rocky Mountains might do well with snow. Last year was such a disaster anything would be an improvement.

I'm going on record now saying the next winter won't be as bad as some strong el nino years around here...it will have its mild periods but will have some wintry weeks...sort of like 1957-58...that winter had three thaws after snowfalls...I'm counting on some blocking at times and a favorable mjo...

Thunderstorms woke me up. They developed over Eastern Nassau/Western Suffolk Counties.a very nice and unexpected .67 I will take it.

Could see some beneficial rains next week.

That would be great if it happens.

Where I was, I believe I was on the northern edge because it did not rain that heavy. It rains when it rains for a while, but nothing torrential and no lightning or thunder where I was so I missed that. I would love to see lightning on 4 July hopefully this Saturday I will.

True haha, I’m just so used to sea breezes and cooler temps this year on the water

GEMLAM has around 110F for Philly tomorrow.

Coastal spots starting just east of Manhattan get a sea breeze reprieve after getting to around 100.

850 temps are near historic highs. It's near 80 degrees at 850. 105-110 honestly would not surprise me. It's going to come down to whether or not you get full sun.

We finished June with temperatures for the month only slightly above normal. Our extremely hot stretch of weather begins today and will continue through the weekend. The hottest days look to be both Thursday and Friday where we will be in the upper 90's on the ridges and near or above 100 degrees in the valley locales. Shower chances increase by July 4th night and continue into Sunday and Monday. This will start to trim the extremely high temperatures and by next Tuesday we will be back to near normal with highs in the mid 80's.
