And what about the other models? Consensus is that EWR hits 105-106 degrees. That's not historic?

I don't consider anything under 95 a heatwave any more.

Heatwave are nothing new.

Models forecasting 105 to 110 in back to back years when the all time record is 106 is new.

And the best part is July 1936 that recorded that all time record high in Central Park finished below normal using today's normals.

Too many of you are focused on heat waves and high temps when a bigger problem is the cool shots we would get mixed in between are largely gone.

Couple that the stupid high dewpoints that we get now that were much more rare in the past and the summer just isn't the same as it used to be.

I already had a 99 degree day so far...I think 1955 had the most 95 degree days in NYC...1963 which was a cool summer overall had two heat waves five days or more and three days 95 or higher...my area is usually as hot as Newark away from the woods...I'm not even in a concrete jungle...

Newark airport is a naturally hot place. So are the surrounding places whether they urban or rural.

Daytime highs aren't really affected by UHI the way lows are so it's not surprising.

Somerset which is rural routinely records some of the hottest temps in the area.

Your area away from the water can get very hot as well.

Same here in northern Queens (unfortunately.)

Their gauge runs high especially on clear days. It's often the warmest by a few degrees in the summer to all stations around it. New Brunswick is a good station since they have Rutgers meteorology helping with it. Doug said that a few years ago since that was his college

Newark could be a degree or two too warm and still be in the naturally warmest spot.

The fact that they're in a natural hotspot and they run warm makes their numebrs look even more dramatic.

For example if JFK ran a degree or two too warm nobody would notice.

I thought it would be worse.

What are the actual temps?

Bro that's nothing check Tuesday and the peak of the heat on Wednesday.

6z Euro is the latest run available and it still showing 111F for Colt's Neck on Wednesday at 2PM, 108F for the city.

Probably a little hotter a couple hours later.

6z Euro also said we're doing mid 100s all the way to Sunday. That's nice.
