This one Haitian girl said she didn't want to celebrate it because she "doesn't like turkey".

I explained to her that eating turkey is not necessarily a requirement and I showed her the real meaning of Thanksgiving.

Then she said that she DID want to celebrate. I told her you can celebrate it and still eat your own food, or eat your own food AND some American food.

Ya a lot of the Latinos here are Mexican and Mexicans have a very similar European like culture so thats why I think they assimilate pretty well.

A lot of them pretty much embrace the "white country boy" culture with lifted pickups amd other shit.

Id rather see this country put more effort into places like Baltimore or Youngstown than just saying screw it lets import H1Bs by the million and give them SBA and FHA loans for nothing.

But it actually WILL help, since seniors are the biggest voting bloc.

I think it's BS personally and I don't understand it, since they probably contribute LESS to the city at that point in their life, but for getting votes, catering to seniors definitely works.

The long run doesn't matter. Elections are now. Plus, there will still be the same AMOUNT or more seniors every year as some die and others age into the group.

So say someone is 60 years old today. Would that law apply to them right now? No. But would they like it if it would apply to them in a few years? Absolutely.

Around the whole area, we see communities of all cultures. China, India, up where I work in Pearl River NY area, lots of hebrew, even on the school busses. In Piscataway, we had the "Americanized" Patels that did everything we all did, but then there were the one's that would never change. It really just seems like it is up to the people if they want to adapt or not.

If you were a European immigrant there was never a question of, "are they going to assimilate or not."

They were already white and Christian.

Now you have to ask the question, which already shows you that it's not the same.

Half the GOP is lobbying against it because they don't want oil prices to rise any further before the midterms, fearing that voters will vote Democrat out of spite. The generic ballot is bluer than it was in 2018 as it sits at 7.7 points which is almost on par to 2008, even though I believe the polls are underestimating Republicans by 3–4 points.

If we do it now, we can get it done way before the midterms. If the Iranians close up the Strait of Hormuz again, the prices will go back up anyway.
